We are a 25 year old couple starting out on advance reproductive technologies(ART).  As of now, we’ve been trying to get pregnant for two years, without seeing a single set of double pink lines.  Kinda discouraging.  A few months ago, we started seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist, Dr H, and a Urologist, Dr O.  After lots of testing, including bloodwork, ultrasounds, a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), and semen analyses, we found our reason: CJ has a rather low sperm count(5mil/ml), poor motility(23%), and really low morphology(3% normal).

IVF, they say, would work for us, but at $11,000 a cycle, it’s out of our price range.  CJ is getting a new job soon that will cover IVF, but we don’t know when that’s happening, and frankly, I’m tired of waiting.  So the current plan is to do an intra-uterine insemination(IUI), and for those of you not knowing what that is, watch for the next post.  We’ll be using donor sperm, and we’ve picked out a donor already-which was challenging, but as a friend said, “You’ve got to go with your heart.”  That made it a  little easier.  I keep being drawn back to the original donor we chose–for some reason, his blue-grey eyes appeal to me.  So donor number 9811 it is.

So, I should get my period in about 8-10 days, and at that point, I call the clinic.  Details coming up in another post!
